Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory was founded in 1955, and is the only one in Yangzhou which has the right to use “Yangzhou Lacquer” as the geographical indication of the enterprise. Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory was originated from the Warring States period, and started to be popular in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. For thousands of years, Yangzhou Lacquerware has been famous both in China and abroad due to its splendid and elegant artistic style of its fabrication process. In 2002, the factory’s own trademark，“Lacquer Flower”, was awarded as Jiangsu famous brand, as well as Jiangsu famous brand products. In 2006, Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory was awarded the title of “China’s time honored”. In 2012, the factory attended to formulate the National Standard of General Technical Requirements for Lacquer, which is promulgated and implemented.

On the 11^th of January, 2019, international students from both 2016 International Business and 2017 International Business went to visit Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory. Director Han from Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory was responsible for the reception. Director Han first introduced the history of Yangzhou Lacquer and Yangzhou Lacquerware Factory briefly, and then took the students to their workstation to let the students investigate how the elegant artworks are made step by step. They were amazed by various artworks, as well as the value of the artworks. Pham Ngoc Anh from Vietnam said, “It is amazing to see so many gorgeous artworks, and how they are made. I have never seen this before. My parents are interested in art, and I have taken some pictures for them. If they are very interested, I would think about buying one artwork for them.” Some students got contact information from Director Han and expressed their interest to introduce Yangzhou Lacquerware to their own countries.
